There are normally two cutting process in Sand stone products. It is either Hand cut or Machine cut. The Hand cut usually has a variation of +/- 5mm whereas in Machine cut it is limited to +/- 2mm . Similarly in thickness, if the finish is Calibration or Sawn it is +/- 2mm.

Over a period of time exposed to the elements, your stone will weather which often involves some level of color change. This is a positive characteristic and natural stone looks all the better for age. Some stones are more prone to color changes than others. For example, stone specified as Jura Beige Limestone, Kota Brown Limestone, Kota Blue Limestone and especially Midnight Black Limestone will tend to lighten up fairly quickly when exposed to the sunlight. The majority of customers like this weathered look, however if you’d like your stone to sustain its original coloring, you can apply some treatments to deepen the color. This can be done retrospectively if you change your mind later on.

We always advise sealing your natural stone with Dry Treat Stain Proof. This will make cleaning and maintenance much easier and will help to prevent permanent staining to the stone. This is even more required if stone is exposed to the sunlight. The majority of customers like the weathered look, however if you’d like your stone to retain its original colouring, you can apply dry treatment and deepen its colour.
